How to get new key for you <@&863834553574227978> <@&863834938435567636> <@&863834649871646781> <@&863834681380044811> and others for dummies.
You need base key to cut the new ones, if you disable EWS you can skip point 3.
- Get spare keys - I used https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204039043181 for older E39 style barrel named HU58, E46 and newer use this one of blade type HU92 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204009169787
Price for 2023 is around ~£15.
What important is, they keys should have ID44/PCF7935 chip somewhere for EWS programming.
Optionally I bought separate board (can't get them in kit with keys for now) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292371317819
Its basically the same but it has rechargeable battery. I wouldn't say it's worth as the other keys use normal "type clock" battery and their design is click closed so its very easy to change it.
- Cut the keys, if you not sure where to look for, best places are the shoe repairs shops and others. Call them and ask if they have laser cutter (this is only the name), in general you need top down type key cutter. It looks like pic rel below.
I had biggest problem with this, but once you find a guy it should be cheap like £10 per key cut.
- EWS - this one is hardest part. You will need to get AS90+ https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255694891976
This is EWS programmer to read and code your key.
At the same time you will need to read EWS module from your car, that means you need to remove it and use cables that came with the key - for EWS3 its very simple, for EWS4 you need some adapter or solder few wires.
In general watch video that explains whole process step by step:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ6enooPkYs
- Program key fob - its very simple - sit inside the car with closed doors but all locks unlocked.
1. put your key into ignition and turn into first position for few seconds,
2. take the key out, now you have relaxed 30s to program all your keys,
3. hold "open" button and press "close" button 3 times - you don't need to rush, do it calmly and slowly
4. release open key, car should close and open doors
5. if you have more keys repeat the procedure from point 3.
6. if you used non-rechargable battery you may need to switch to 433 MHz mode (non-US only?) - to do that just hold "open" button and press "open trunk" button 5 times.
Replacing battery in OEM key:
OEM keys usually don't go bad with battery, but if you feel one of your keys starts to have issues you may take it apart and replace it. It's a messy job since keys are glued together and you need to cut open without damaging the board which isn't easy at all.

Battery type is VL2020 3v.

You need to unsolder old one, solder new one and reprogram the key.
